Sustainable stories from our farmers, among others. Over four hundred other cattle farmers are milk to this dairy cooperative in one of the oldest polders in the Netherlands: the Beemster. The CONO cheese factory is known, or rather famous, for the creamy Beemster cheese. CONO is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations in 2015. With the goal of making the world a better place. In doing so, the cooperative does not wait for others, and takes the lead itself wherever possible. In order to map out the emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2 for each phase, the "footprint," the entire process has been chopped up into pieces: the cows' lives on the farm, the transport of the milk, the work in the cheese factory, the ripening on the shelves, the packaging for sale, and the transport to wholesalers and stores.
