't Kaas Lokaal's cheese was today chosen by the jury of consumers as the winner in the 48+ Young category at the Gouda Cheese Awards. This is the first time cheese from 't Kaas Lokaal has been entered.
't Kaas Lokaal is a brand of CONO Kaasmakers. The cheese is made using traditional elements, such as the curds still being stirred by hand. Of course you can taste that in this winning cheese. The cheese is made climate-neutrally. This very tastiest cheese is available at CONO Kaasmakers stores, including 't Kaas Lokaal in Ommen and Delft.
In the Gouda 48+ Jong category, 't Kaas Lokaal was nominated along with Albert Heijn's Zaanlander and FrieslandCampina's Gouda Jong Gerkesklooster. The fresh and creamy young cheese from 't Kaas Lokaal emerged as the winner after Master Chef and Master Pastry Chef Rudolph van Veen, culinary journalist Myra Madeleine and the mayor of Gouda, Pieter Verhoeve tasted the three nominated cheeses.
Gouda Cheese Awards is a special cheese competition in the Netherlands. Here the cheeses are not judged technically, but through a neutral taste test. Consumers taste and judge. All Dutch cheese brands can participate as long as the entry complies with the competition rules. After sending in whole cheeses, these are tested blind by a panel of consumers. For each category, three finalists advance to the final in Gouda. The winner gets to call their cheese the tastiest in the Netherlands in their category for a year.
