For three years Gerard Oosterlaken has been a proud CONO cattle farmer based in Broek in Waterland. Before that he supplied his milk to Leerdammer, but he made the switch because of the better milk price. Yet his true motivation is not in the pennies, but in caring for his animals. "Sustainability," he says, "for me is in the cows. If they are well off and last a long time, then you are doing well as a farmer."
