Once a year the weekly cheese market in Alkmaar is extra special, because that is when the intronization of the Honorary Guild of North Holland Cheese takes place. Just like today, Friday, September 6. Persons who have made themselves deserving for the North Holland cheese are invited to join the Honorary Guild.

This year from CONO Cheesemakers Marit de Jong of KLM and Henk-Jan Kos of Vandersterre were intronized and may call themselves Honorary Guild Members of North Holland Cheese. Prior to the intronization, they jointly opened the Alkmaar cheese market by ringing the bell and of course took a trial of skill under the watchful eye of the cheese father, board members and cheese masters. In the process, the cheese was described as very tasty and flavorful.

Then, in the beautiful Alkmaar Town Hall, Alderman and Chairman of the Honorary Guild Anjo van de Ven inaugurated the new members. CONO Kaasmakers warmly congratulates Marit de Jong and Henk-Jan Kos on this special honor.
