CONO Cheesemakers nominates new Honorary Guild members during cheese market Alkmaar
Once a year, the weekly cheese market in Alkmaar gets a special touch: the intronization of the Honorary Guild of North Holland Cheese. Again this year, on Friday, September 5, individuals who have rendered meritorious service to the North Holland cheese tradition were intronized.
On behalf of CONO Cheesemakers, Jeroen Klein of Vandersterre Holland and Bert Westmaas of Treur Kaas joined the Honorary Guild this year. Prior to the intronization, they jointly rang the bell to open the cheese market and completed an aptitude test under the watchful eye of the cheese father, board members and cheese masters. In the process, the cheese was again praised for its malleability and rich flavor.
The official intronization took place at the Alkmaar City Hall, where Alkmaar alderman and chairman of the Honorary Guild, Jan Hoekzema, welcomed the new members.
CONO Kaasmakers warmly congratulates Jeroen Klein and Bert Westmaas on this special recognition. We are proud to be part of this rich North Holland cheese tradition and look forward to continuing to build together to promote our beloved cheese.
