CONO Kaasmakers is today announcing the grazing figures for its affiliated livestock farmers for 2025. The grazing percentage remains high: 98% of our livestock farmers meet the grazing standard. This is another slight increase compared to 2024, when the percentage was 97%. This means that our cooperative's results are well above the national average for 2024 (73.9%). The national figures for 2025 will follow later.
In 2025, our cows spent an average of 185 days in the pasture for more than ten hours. That is ten days more than last year, with the cows spending a total of approximately 1,915 hours outdoors. Favorable pasture weather and the dedication of our livestock farmers contributed to this increase.
Gerben van Diepen, Chairman of the Board of Directors at CONO Kaasmakers, explains: “Our dairy farmers are passionate and committed to grazing every day. These excellent results underline how important grazing is for the welfare of the cows and for sustainable milk production. With our Caring Dairy program, we support our dairy farmers in making responsible choices that contribute to a future-proof sector."
With these results, CONO Kaasmakers once again demonstrates that sustainability, animal welfare, and craftsmanship go hand in hand. Extensive grazing, personal attention on the farm, and a fair milk price together form the basis for the tastiest and fairest cheese.
