Beemster cheese, a brand of CONO Cheese Makers, has been named one of the winners of the World Cheese Awards, held at the International Convention Centre Wales in Newport on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. CONO Kaasmakers' Beemster cheeses distinguished themselves from the 4434 entries with multiple gold, silver and bronze medals.

Beemster Oud, Beemster Royaal Grand Cru and Beemster Goat won Gold at the prestigious cheese event. These winning cheeses impressed some of the world's leading cheese experts. The cheeses were judged on aspects such as aroma, body and texture of the cheese, with the most points awarded for taste and mouthfeel.

The silver medal went to Beemster X-O-, Beemster Jong, Beemster 30+ Old and Beemster Royaal and the bronze was for Beemster Belegen and Beemster Truffle . "A great result for CONO Kaasmakers this year, which proves that the quality of our cheese is excellent," said cheese master Sjoerd Hiemstra.

World Cheese Awards
It was the 34th edition of the World Cheese Awards and this year the organization received more entries than ever, with a record 4434 cheeses submitted from 42 countries around the world. All entries were judged on their appearance, texture, smell and taste by 250 experts from 38 different countries.
