With the 'Beemster in bloom' project, together with Water, Land & Dijken, De Beemsterling and the Purmerend municipality, we have been successfully contributing to improving biodiversity in the Beemster for a few years now. Starting this year, Rabobank is also involved in the collaboration to further fulfill the mission.
Beemster in bloom
With the "Beemster in bloom" initiative, we are committed to working with as many farmers in the outlying area as possible to improve biodiversity in the Beemster. The flower borders sown annually for this purpose contribute to increasing biodiversity. They help to improve water and soil quality and attract natural pest and crop pollinators such as ladybugs and bees. In addition, flower edges provide food and shelter opportunities for birds and others. And together we can fully enjoy it when it blooms.
Fruitful collaboration
This fruitful collaboration resulted in the sowing of over 53,000 m2 of bee ribbon seed this year. Which resulted in colorful flower borders in the Beemster polder. The bee ribbon can be found at many farmers in the Beemster. Including a number of CONO cattle farmers, as in previous years at the yard of Johan and Jeanette. By working together to increase biodiversity, we are contributing to a positive future for future generations. Here's to an even longer bee ribbon in 2025.
